Parents' Rights Constitutional Amendment vs. U.N.'s Convention of "Rights" of the Child

Incredibly, the United Nations, instead of trying to broker peace agreements amongst the world's warring nations -- or dismantling the nuclear weapons programs of rogue nations such as Iran and North Korea -- is meddling once again in the affairs of the nuclear family and the Obama administration is trying to give them an assist.
Pro-family forces in America are fighting back. There is now a bill, authored by Congressman Pete Hoekstra, Republican from Michigan and co-sponsored by the Republican leader of the United States House of Representatives, John Boehner from Ohio, which will establish a Parents' Rights Constitutional Amendment (H. J. Res. 42.) The entire leadership of the Republicans in the House of Representatives are also co-sponsors. It now has 100 co-sponsors and gaining more every day as Members of the House find out about this commonsense pro-family legislation.

Leader Boehner's office reported that: "Recently the Administration has indicated that it would like the Senate to ratify the U.N. Convention on the Rights of the Child. In light of increasing government expansion into the private sector and individuals' lives - the desire to cede parents' rights to raise and nurture their children to an international panel in Geneva should not come as surprise.

The vast majority of Americans, regardless of their opinions on the increasing scope of international law, agree with the proposition that children should not be used as soldiers.  Accordingly, much of the UN literature that addresses children and guns deals with this military-related issue. 

However, a second theme is quickly found in virtually all UN pronouncements about child soldiers and weapons.  UN child’s rights advocates believe, teach, and promote the idea that all private gun-ownership is dangerous for children, and that children have the right to grow up in a community that is free from all guns.
