Man Plows "Say No to Obama" Into Texas Field

Monday, August 31, 2009

A Lubbock man took out his frustrations with the Obama health care plan recently by plowing his protest into a field of weeds. The plan could cost taxpayers trillions of dollars over the next several years, MSNBC reports.

Sam Bates, a former art teacher cut down some weeds and left a large message visible from the sky: “Say no to Obama!”

"I thought, maybe some pilots flying from here to Dallas would get a good chuckle," Bates said.

The New Republic: America's Future Recap

August 28, 2009 - 18:41 ET

All week on radio and TV Glenn asked the tough questions -- because our republic is being transformed before our very eyes. The time for silent dissent has long passed, and now the hard questions need to be asked. Maybe there are perfectly logical explanations for Obama's 'Civilian National Security Force' he wants funded as well as the military. But what is it? Who are the radical Czars in the White House, and why are they there? Does the President actually listen to Communist ideas? Here is the ENTIRE RECAP of this weeks shows -- the monologues, the questions, the amazing interview with Rush Limbaugh and more. Please, read it and pass it around to all of your friends. These questions need to be asked and answered. Get started!

Legendary professional wrestler Hulk Hogan is scheduled to headline the North Central Florida Project 9.12 monthly rally on Saturday in Olustee Park.

Hogan, whose real name is Terry Bollea, is scheduled to speak at the monthly rally which begins at 5 p.m.

Hogan, a 12-time heavyweight wrestling champion and star of the VH1 television show, “Hogan Knows Best,” will speak on ways to lower property taxes. “At our last 9.12 meeting, we had a lady who is from Volusia County who is involved in a lower taxes group,” said Sharon Higgins, secretary and member of the board of directors for the 9.12 project. “Hogan is also involved in a group very similar to that, and she had the contact information for him.”

Ameripac | Stop Obama’s Energy Tax For Heath Care

The Obama Health Care Tax scam will cost billions and a new revenue source is needed according to Obama Treasury Sec. Geithner who didn't rule out new taxes as a means to do so. Timothy Geithner said when asked if new taxes were likely "what the country needs to do is understand we're going to have to do what it takes, we're going to do what's necessary.”

Congresses Power to enact Healthcare Reform and other Laws - The Constitution

Obama administration moves to strike down Defense of Marriage Act

Thursday, August 20, 2009

WASHINGTON, DC - The Obama administration filed court papers Monday claiming a federal marriage law discriminates against homosexuals, even as government lawyers continue to defend the law.

Justice Department lawyers are seeking to dismiss a suit brought by a same-sex California couple challenging the 1996 Defense of Marriage Act. The administration's response to the case has angered homosexual activists who see it as backtracking on campaign promises made by Barack Obama.

In the court papers, the administration urges the repeal of the law but says in the meantime, government lawyers will continue to defend it as a law on the books.

Live Oak Townhall Meeting Reports

RAUCOUS HEALTHCARE DEBATE DRAWS NEARLY 500

Half the crowd was turned away for lack of space

By Stephenie Livingston and Jeff Waters

No one got escorted out by police and everyone given a chance to speak was also given a chance to be heard – if often over boos and catcalls. All in all, the crowd at Live Oak City Hall Wednesday for Rep. Allen Boyd’s town hall meeting was relatively tame, at least compared to the spectacles seen at other such gatherings around the nation of late.

With about 250 crowded into the council chambers, 100 or more inside the building listening at the door and at least 100 more milling around outside, the meeting illustrated just how controversial the issue of healthcare has become. However, prior to the Congressman's appearance, most in attendance seemed to share the attitude of Live Oak’s George Mortimor.

Healthy debate

Hundreds rally in Live Oak to discuss proposed health care reform
By TROY ROBERTS

Hundreds of area residents gathered in Live Oak City Hall on Wednesday to share their opinions of the federally proposed health care bill with Democratic Congressman Allen Boyd.

Boyd, who represents Florida’s second district, discussed his views with residents, a majority of who vocally opposed the health care bill. More than 500 were in attendance, although the number could have been significantly higher as many people were coming and going throughout the hour-and-a-half meeting. The meeting was held in the city hall chambers, but the room, which could hold about 150, was not nearly large enough to host the crowd, and spilled out into the lobby area and outside of city hall as well.

Sotomayor: Fundamental Right To Abortion, Not to Bear Arms

by Charmaine Yoest
07/28/2009

Of all the generalities and evasions that Judge Sonia Sotomayor offered the Senate Judiciary Committee during her confirmation hearing, surely the strangest was one she made when describing her role in the Puerto Rican Legal Defense and Education Fund.

Sotomayor was on the PRLDEF’s board of directors for twelve years during the 1980s and early 1990s, a period when the fund issued no less than six briefs to the Supreme Court in abortion cases. Those briefs argued, among other things, that abortion was a “fundamental right” and that, contrary to scientific evidence, “the belief that life begins at conception is religious.” In them, the PRLDEF called upon the high court to strike down every common-sense state law regulating abortion, including ones supported by the overwhelming majority of Americans -- such as parental-notification and informed-consent laws.

Glenn Beck: America Senses Something's Not Right

Impossible Promises

Thursday, August 6, 2009

By John Stossel
I keep reading about health-care "reform," but I have yet to see anyone explain how the government can make it easier for more people to obtain medical services, control the already exploding cost of those services and not interfere with people's most intimate decisions.

You don't need to be a Ph.D. in economics to understand that government cannot do all three things. (Judging by what Paul Krugman writes, a Ph.D. may be an obstacle.)

The New York Times describes a key part of the House bill: "Lawmakers of both parties agree on the need to rein in private insurance companies by banning underwriting practices that have prevented millions of Americans from obtaining affordable insurance. Insurers would, for example, have to accept all applicants and could not charge higher premiums because of a person's medical history or current illness".

Darrell Issa's letter to Rahm Emanuel

Dear Mr. Emanuel:
As you know, Senator Jon Kyl (R-AZ) recently raised questions about the failure
of the stimulus and suggested on a national television show that stimulus money
scheduled to be spent in futut. years ought to be returned to the American taxpayers. Following Senator Kyl's remarks, according to Politico, you coordinated an "assault" on Senator Kyl and other critics of your policies by directing four cabinet secretaries to write to Jan Brewer, the Governor of Arizona, asking pointedly if, in light of Senator Kyl's remarks, Governor Brewer wished to forfeit taxpayer money directed to Arizona by the stimulus. These tactics have been characterized as "a hst to the nose" and a message to "Back off." While this type of scare tactic may work in Chicago, it will not work to intimidate me or other Members of the United States Congress.

Last week Glenn got a call from a very impressive young man named Jerome Hudson, who told Glenn he had written an op-ed during the 2008 election on being a black conservative. He sent it in and it's fantastic. Enjoy!

While attending a black fraternity party, I recently learned it’s a bad idea to profess one’s affinity for Glenn Beck, Bill O’Reilly, Rush Limbaugh, and Sean Hannity.

Worse, according to current polls, it appears I may be the only black 22 year old in America who will be voting for Sen. John McCain.

It’s not that I was unaware that being a black conservative Republican puts me in the ultimate “minority.” After all, Shelby Steele’s classic article “ The Loneliness of the Black Conservative” has become an article of faith that I’ve all but committed to memory.

But I guess I had made the mistake of buying into all that liberal yammering about being “open minded” and supporting “diversity” that I’d deluded myself into believing that a civil, discussion about the herd-like ideological mentality of so many of my contemporaries suffer from was possible.

Boy, was I wrong. Big time!
