Rubio Blasts Crist for Support of Federal Stimulus Package

Tommy Graham 29.MAY.09
(Lake City, FL) -- Shots are already being fired in the 2010 race for the U.S. Senate seat being vacated by Mel Martinez. Former Florida House Speaker Marco Rubio criticized fellow republican Governor Charlie Crist for his support of the federal stimulus package.

“The governor of our state, he stood up on a stage and applauded and continues to applaud and thank President Obama for the stimulus package,” Rubio said. “The problem with that is I have four young children who are inheriting an almost $12 trillion debt.”

Rubio made the comments on the Sean Hannity Show, Thursday. The former house speaker will appear in Lake City for Drive the Discussion 2010, June 6th with several other prominent Florida republicans at the Holiday Inn from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Governor Crist has been invited but no word yet if he'll attend.

Furor grows over partisan car dealer closings

By: MARK TAPSCOTT
Editorial Page Editor
05/27/09 3:37 PM EDT

Evidence appears to be mounting that the Obama administration has systematically targeted for closing Chrysler dealers who contributed to Repubicans. What started earlier this week as mainly a rumbling on the Right side of the Blogosphere has gathered some steam today with revelations that among the dealers being shut down are a GOP congressman and closing of competitors to a dealership chain partly owned by former Clinton White House chief of staff Mack McLarty.

The basic issue raised here is this: How do we account for the fact millions of dollars were contributed to GOP candidates by Chrysler who are being closed by the government, but only one has been found so far that is being closed that contributed to the Obama campaign in 2008?

Jekyll Island: A New Beginning For America

Saturday, May 30, 2009

“Ironically, 99 years ago this week, a train left Newark, N.J., for Jesup Station, Ga., carrying some of the wealthiest, most powerful people in the world. They met in secret at the Jekyll Island Club and laid the plans to create the Federal Reserve System.

“Another group of people took a train this past week from Newark, N.J., for Jesup Station, Ga., en route to the same Jekyll Island Club. The people in this group are not among the wealthiest people in the world, but they are among the most powerful; they are some of the leaders of the growing freedom movement. Nearly a hundred years ago, a meeting at Jekyll Island produced the Federal Reserve, which now controls our economic destiny. The current meeting at Jekyll Island, organized by the We the People Foundation, seeks to produce a plan to control the Federal Reserve and restore our economic freedom.”

Quoted from Here Comes The Freedom Movement by Henry Lamb, published in WorldNetDaily, May 23, 2009.

On May 21st and May 22nd, an unprecedented gathering of the nation’s Freedom Movement leaders was held in Georgia at the Jekyll Island Club Hotel. The planning meetings, coined the “Jekyll Island Project,” were hosted by We The People Foundation for Constitutional Education, Inc., chaired by Bob Schulz.

A highlight of the gathering was a special ceremony held in the Federal Reserve Room at the Club, specifically to establish a “righteous record” to supplant the secretive deliberations which occurred in that same location in 1910 to conceive the (unconstitutional) Federal Reserve Act of 1913.

Conservatives Wary of Supreme Court Nominee

Conservatives are concerned that Sonia Sotomayor — President Barack Obama's nominee to the U.S. Supreme Court — will indulge her Left-wing policy preferences instead of neutrally interpreting the law.

"From what we know about her, Judge Sotomayor considers policy-making to be among a judge’s roles, no matter what the law says," said Bruce Hausknecht, judicial analyst at Focus on the Family Action. "She disregards the notion of judicial impartiality."

Kill the Energy Tax: Call The Following Representatives...

By Adam Waldeck on May 6, 2009 5:12 PM
Currently being debated in Congress is a "Cap and Trade" bill.

Wrapped in the façade of saving the planet, it's an energy tax that would increase your household energy bill by $3,100.

The other week, Newt testified against this bill, trying to persuade the Chairman, Rep. Henry Waxman, that we don't need to punish the American people with more energy taxes.

If you believe that we can have both a good economy and a good environment, and you want to stop this disastrous energy tax, please call the Representatives listed below.

They have the ability to stop this bill.

Please tell them they must.

Obama's relentless pressure on Israel to stop building new settlements

Barack Obama recently met with the Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, on his visit to America and was pressuring the Israeli leader to stop building settlements in Israel. America's foreign policy establishment continues to harass the only legitimate democracy in the Middle East and to endanger the security of this tiny country nestled amongst hoardes of vipers.

As one of the speakers during a Support Israel Rally at a recent Christian Coalition of America Road to Victory Conference wrote in an email this week: "'Peace, peace,' they say, when there is no peace." Jan Willem van der Hoeven, Director of the International Christian Zionist Center, was quoting Jeremiah 8:11 as he realistically assessed the ever-tumultuous situation in the Middle East concerning Israel and Obama's 2-state solution.

Obama’S War On Talk Radio

Obama’s liberal philosophy dictates that when the news is bad, shoot the messenger. The newest data from Arbitron, the company charged with measuring the size of radio audiences, suggests that listenership to hip hop, inner city, and minority radio has been overstated in the past and that the popularity of conservative talk radio has been under-reported.

This conclusion - ideologically inconvenient for Obama - comes from the company’s decision to dispense with the Stone Age way it has been measuring radio audiences - by hand written diaries based on listener memory - with modern machines which automatically record what the person is listening to and for how long.

Here we go again: ACLU vs. American veterans

The most infamous organization in American, the so-called American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), is fighting against American veterans yet again in the United States Supreme Court. As reporter Audrey Hudson writes in today's Memorial Day edition of "The Washington Times," in an article entitled: "ACLU 'dead wrong' on cross," a 7 foot cross standing for 75 years in a California desert to memorialize war veterans is being threatened with removal by, you guessed it, the ACLU.

It is reported that the cross was first erected in the federally protected Mojave Desert Preserve by a group of veterans whose doctors told them that desert heat would help them recover from shell shock. In his column today in "The Washington Times," Glen Gardner, a Vietnam War veteran, and the national commander of the 2.2 million-member Veterans of Foreign Wars of the U.S. wrote that the United States Supreme Court will determine whether that gesture of respect violates the U.S. Constitution's separation of church and state.

As Mr. Gardner says: "The real issue behind Salazar v. Buono is whether the use of religious symbolism in veterans memorials on public property violates the Establishment Clause. If the High Court rules in favor of the plaintiff, every such memorial across the land will be in jeopardy of being torn down -- and the ultimate loser will be America. That's because veteran memorials help our nation remember what came before."

Morning Bell: North Korea’s New Game

Friday, May 29, 2009

U.S. intelligence agencies are still collecting data from an array of high-tech equipment, but analysts have little doubt that North Korea did detonate a nuclear device yesterday. The Pyongyang regime also test-fired two missiles today despite a U.N. Security Council condemnation of their nuclear test. These actions come just five days after Iran tested a two-stage ballistic missile and just six weeks after North Korea fired their own ballistic missile, the Taepo-Dong-2, which landed 2,390 miles from the launch site.

The President Who Hates His Country

By Joan Swirsky Sunday, May 3, 2009
In the last century, the impassioned words and actions of patriots like Winston Churchill – along with America’s heroic help and sacrifice – saved Europe. The eloquence and actions of “I’ve been to the mountaintop” Martin Luther King Jr. brought America to an unprecedented level of social justice.

The peerless oratory and tireless diplomacy of the man who would become Israel’s Foreign Minister, Abba Eban convinced the entire world that after the wanton murder of six-million Jews in the Holocaust its straggling survivors deserved their own state of Israel. The inspiring words and decisive actions of President Ronald Reagan ended the Cold War, tore down the Berlin Wall, and restored economic prosperity to America. The efforts of these towering figures resulted in a more highly-evolved world.

We have also seen the opposite in totalitarian leaders like Hitler, Mussolini, Fidel Castro, Pol Pot, Mao, and Saddam Hussein, among others, who exploited their masses, destroyed their economies, brought havoc, turbulence, grief and massive death within and outside of their countries, and made the world a more dangerous and threatening place.

The Day the American Dream Dies

Wednesday, May 06, 2009
By Terence P. Jeffrey

With little fanfare, the Government Accountability Office released a document last week that points to the day when the American dream dies and is buried beneath a middle-class welfare state.

You can see death coming for the American dream as surely as you can see cirrhosis coming for a drunk.

We are bringing it upon ourselves—although not all Americans deserve what is going to happen. For one, our children don’t deserve it. For another, Americans who have tried to live independent, self-reliant lives don’t deserve it, either.

OK, seriously… what’s going on with the Tea Party effort?

Written by Eric Odom on May 4, 2009 – 11:43 am
Fellow Tea Partiers,

If you’re concerned about the direction of the Tea Party effort, it is VERY important that you take a few moments to read and digest this entire email.

I’m writing you because I find the Tea Party effort in a very disconcerting position at the moment. I’ve been on vacation for the past few days, so I’m a little behind on all the news, but from what I’m reading it sounds like there has been a lot of things said internally, within the effort, that probably should not have been said.

...

I’m currently working with a coalition of folks that have opted to take a quieter, more strategic approach to the energy surrounding the Tea Party effort. We’re developing a two pronged plan for long term political activity within the free-market movement, and I want to invite you to be a part of this effort.

A Bill Of Federalism

Randy E. Barnett, 05.20.09, 4:11 PM ET
Lately some state legislatures have been considering so-called "sovereignty resolutions." Rather than pass strictly symbolic measures, however, I recommended--in an op-ed last month in The Wall Street Journal--that state legislatures exercise the power given them under Article V of the Constitution to petition Congress to call a convention to propose a "Federalism Amendment."

This idea clearly touched a chord among the public and elicited an outpouring of comments and suggestions, including here on Forbes. While many liked my original proposal, others wanted to see added provisions for balanced budgets, term limits and other constraints on federal power.

With this feedback in mind, I decided to draft a Bill of Federalism consisting of 10 amendments devised to restore the balance between state and federal power as well as the original meaning of the Constitution. By identifying 10 separate amendments, a coalition can be formed from people who support different constitutional reform measures that could not be combined into a single amendment. At the same time, opposition to any one provision cannot be used to sink the whole proposal.

Sen. Martinez On U.S. Supreme Court Nomination

Wednesday, May 27, 2009

Orlando, FL) - U.S. Senator Mel Martinez (R-FL) today issued a statement regarding the President's nomination of Judge Sonia Sotomayor to serve as Associate Justice on the United States Supreme Court.

Senator Martinez said:

"During the twenty-five years I spent in Florida courts, I gained a great respect for our judicial system and the importance it plays in our society. At the apex of this system is the Supreme Court of the United States. On that court, we must have the very best.

"As an Hispanic-American, I take great pride in seeing the nomination of an Hispanic person to serve in this high position - an historic first. Judge Sonia Sotomayor's personal life story is one of great accomplishments and a source of inspiration; it also demonstrates the great opportunities our nation has to offer.

"The appointment and confirmation of Federal judges is the only time that the Constitution brings all three branches of our government together into one unified process. These unique opportunities require that all participants work to ensure the process is both fair and thorough. When it comes to judicial candidates, we ought to look at experience, fairness, impartiality, temperament, and knowledge of the law. I look forward to participating in a fair and thorough process as the Senate conducts its constitutionally-required examination of Judge Sotomayor's qualifications for serving on the nation's highest court."

Should Obama Control the Internet?

A new bill would give the President emergency authority to halt web traffic and access private data.

—By Steve Aquino

Thu April 2, 2009 12:33 PM PST
Should President Obama have the power to shut down domestic Internet traffic during a state of emergency?

Senators John Rockefeller (D-W. Va.) and Olympia Snowe (R-Maine) think so. On Wednesday they introduced a bill to establish the Office of the National Cybersecurity Advisor—an arm of the executive branch that would have vast power to monitor and control Internet traffic to protect against threats to critical cyber infrastructure. That broad power is rattling some civil libertarians.

An Essay By Jim Gilchrist (Minutemen)

The Minuteman Project evolved as an alternative to the corruption and dereliction of duty of our nation’s political governors and the reckless disregard for U.S. rule of law by domestic and foreign entrepreneurs engaged in the 21st century slave trade.

Weary and frustrated with the decades-long refusal of federal, state, and local governments to simply enforce existing U.S. immigration laws, I set out to bring national awareness to this dilemma in order to rouse a sleeping electorate and force public debate on the matter.

Anti-Abortion Groups Gear Up to Fight Sotomayor

By Jacqueline L. Salmon

Groups opposed to legalized abortion had already been aiming at Judge Sonia Sotomayor as one of President Obama's likely Supreme Court nominees, and now that her nomination is official, they still don't like what they see.

Americans United for Life, one of the nation's oldest anti-abortion groups, has been conducting opposition research on her since her name surfaced.

This morning, AUL was one of the first such groups out of the blocks with reaction to news of her nomination. AUL president Charmaine Yoest blasted the choice, saying it nixed any possibility of finding "common ground" on the abortion issue, a goal of Obama and a number of progressive religious groups.

"For all the President's talk of finding 'common ground,' this appointment completely contradicts that hollow promise. She believes the role of the Court is to set policy which is exactly the philosophy that led to the Supreme Court turning into the 'National Abortion Control Board...'"

According to an online Yahoo program, the Global Position System coordinates for the White House, probably one of the best-known publicly owned buildings in the world, are 38.898590 Latitude and -77.035971 Longitude. And since you know that, it's no big deal for the White House to know the coordinates for your front door, is it?

Some people think it is, and are upset over an army of some 140,000 workers hired in part with a $700 million taxpayer-funded contract to collect GPS readings for every front door in the nation.

Value-added tax, once taboo, is getting attention in Washington

By Lori Montgomery

Washington -- With budget deficits soaring and President Obama pushing a trillion-dollar-plus expansion of health coverage, some Washington policymakers are taking a fresh look at a money-making idea long considered politically taboo: a national sales tax.

Common around the world, including in Europe, such a tax -- called a value-added tax, or VAT -- has not been seriously considered in the United States. But advocates say few other options can generate the kind of money the nation will need to avert fiscal calamity.

Memo to Senate Members: What do Americans Want in the Next Supreme Court Justice?

Monday, May 25, 2009

As we await President Obama's announcement of his choice to fill the U.S. Supreme Court vacancy created by Justice David Souter's retirement, new polling data reveal that Americans want Justices who disavow politics and who will uphold the Constitution and the rule of law as written, including on issues involving abortion.

By overwhelming majorities, Democrats, Republicans and Independents agreed that judges should exercise restraint and check their own beliefs and predispositions at the courthouse door. They agreed on upholding common sense abortion regulations already in place in the states, including parental consent laws, and objecting to late-term abortions and taxpayer-funded abortions in the U.S. and overseas. Further, this consensus was held even among Americans who self-described themselves as "pro-choice."

Petition for Florida Sovereignty

Friday, May 22, 2009

The Tenth Amendment provides that “powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.”

It is our belief that the federal government has consistently over-stepped its constitutional boundaries and usurped the powers reserved to the states, and therefore the people.

A Florida Sovereignty Resolution will remind the federal government of its proper role and place.

Our goal is to have a resolution adopted and passed by the Florida State Legislature during the calendar year 2009.

Grassroots 'tea parties' build strength

By Donald Lambro (Contact) | Sunday, May 10, 2009

The grass-roots "tea party" movement that swept across the country April 15 to protest federal tax and spending hikes will hold demonstrations in Washington and elsewhere this summer and fall when Congress will be battling over President Obama's biggest budget proposals.

Leaders of the Tax Day rallies that drew an estimated 600,000 people in nearly 600 cities and towns say the seemingly spontaneous local protests have grown into a more muscular movement concerned that the escalating growth and cost of government threatens to undermine economic freedom.

Organizers say rallies are planned here and around the nation on the Fourth of July to tie the movement's goals to the nation's founding principles; on Sept. 12, when Congress is expected to be in the midst of debate over Mr. Obama's plans on health care, energy and global warming; and on Oct. 2, when supporters expect that debate to be continuing.

A Time for Courage

This is A Time For Courage
April 15, 2009 – 11:49 pm
Ladies and gentlemen, This is a Time For Courage.

We are gathered here today on the Plains of West Texas in common purpose.  We are here to remind our government that this is our country, We the People are still in charge, and our government is still our servant and not our master.

Our Nation’s founding document is The Declaration of Independence.  It tells us that our rights come from God and not from a small group of Elite men and women.

Our Constitution starts with the words “We the People.”  Our Constitution was written for ordinary Americans like you and me.  Our Constitution protects us from our government and from the politicians.

Help Us Stop The National Energy Tax!

Washington, D.C. -
With the economy on shaky ground, you would think your elected officials in Washington, D.C. would try and find ways to ease the tax burden on hardworking Americans. Unfortunately, the powers that be on the far Left have other ideas.

President Obama is actively working with Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to appease the radical environmentalists by imposing a “cap and trade” scheme to combat supposedly man-made climate change. But this effort to curb carbon-based emissions would not only be ineffective, it would cost all of us dearly every time we flip on a light switch or fill up our gas tank.

OLIVER NORTH: Alarm Bells Ringing Over Harold Koh

By Oliver North
Host, “War Stories“
It is said that there are two kinds of lawyers: Those who know the law and those who know the judge. And then there is Harold Koh, the man who is likely to be the next legal adviser to the State Department.

"Koh’s record deserves more scrutiny because he is not just an attorney who knows the law — he is an activist lawyer who knows what he wants the law to be."

'Everyone Agrees': Waxman-Markey Will Increase Consumer Costs

By Steven Everley on May 18, 2009 1:40 PM

In the ongoing saga revolving around the cost of cap-and-trade to the American economy, those of us saying it will increase costs and questioning whether the government would actually rebate the money were seconded by the most unlikely of individuals:  The chairman of the House Ways & Means Committee, Charles Rangel (D-NY).

You might recall the words of Rep. John Dingell (D-MI), the former head of the Energy & Commerce committee, who said in April:  "Nobody in this country realizes that cap and trade is a tax, and it's a great big one."

The UN Convention on the Rights of the Child:The Impact on Private Gun-Ownership in America

“The spread of small arms creates a serious global problem and requires an equally urgent response because the lives and futures of children are at stake. These weapons have extinguished more young lives than they have protected.” – Carol Bellamy, Executive Director, UNICEF

The vast majority of Americans, regardless of their opinions on the increasing scope of international law, agree with the proposition that children should not be used as soldiers.  Accordingly, much of the UN literature that addresses children and guns deals with this military-related issue.

However, a second theme is quickly found in virtually all UN pronouncements about child soldiers and weapons.  UN child’s rights advocates believe, teach, and promote the idea that all private gun-ownership is dangerous for children, and that children have the right to grow up in a community that is free from all guns.

Clean Water Restoration Act Latest Regulatory Land Grab

From Kelsey Zahourek on Wednesday, May 13, 2009 2:29 PM

Among the worst violators of Americans' property rights are out-of-control regulators who enforce federal environmental laws. This trend only seems to be increasing as Congress looks to pass the “Clean Water Restoration Act” (S.787). S. 787 would infringe on the rights of property owners across the nation and result in an unprecedented expansion of the regulatory authority of the federal government.S. 787, re-introduced by Sen. Russell Feingold, seeks to re-establish the nearly unlimited powers of the Clean Water Act lost due to U.S. Supreme Court decisions in 2001 and 2006. While the bill aims to restore protection of wetlands and waterways, S. 787 mandates all waters be placed under regulatory control of the federal government, leaving property owners vulnerable to a potential federal “land grab”. By placing all waters under the regulatory control of the federal government, this legislation goes way beyond the original intent of the Clean Water Act.

'Cap-and-Trade' Bill on the fast track

Democrats Are Fast-Tracking Nearly 1,000-Page 'Cap-and-Trade' Bill That Would Increase Electricity Bills
Tuesday, May 19, 2009
By Matt Cover

(CNSNews.com) – Democrats on the House Energy and Commerce Committee put their cap and trade global warming bill--that would increase U.S. energy prices, including electricity bills--on the fast track Monday. Republicans, meanwhile, are complaining that the expedited process is designed to avoid well-informed public debate about what the bill will do and its consequences for American consumers.
